The new SilentStorm Cool Zero seems a promising solution in many ways.

You haven't seen such switches on a PSU yet!

The newly launched power supply series is 80 PLUS Gold rated for the first time, so there's really no need to worry about energy efficiency - on a 230-volt network, efficiency can reach 92%! There is also reason to be confident about reliability, the Sharkoon uses Japanese condensers certified to 105 degrees Celsius, and proper cooling is provided by a fairly large liquid-bearing fan with a diameter of 135 mm (with a lifespan of 100 hours).

So far, SilentStorm Cool Zero has been a good, but by no means special product. Well, let’s take the cover off of the really exciting things here: Fan Delay and Zero RPM. As you can see in the pictures, there are two switches on the back of the power supply that you can use to activate these functions. Both services are connected to the fan, their operation can be summarized as follows:

  • Fan Deley - after shutting down the PC, the power supply's air agitator runs for an additional 60 seconds, ensuring that the "residual heat" is neutralized.
  • Zero RPM - this mode is able to stop the fan completely (“at low and medium load”), thus essentially implementing a semi-passive mode. If Zero RPM is disabled, the fan will run at low speed but, of course, continuously.

The LLC resonant power supply is fully modular, of course 100% compatible with AMD Ryzen based systems. Sharkoon SilentStorm Cool Zero is available in three different capacities: 650, 750 and 850 watts. The smallest model costs 99,90 euros, after which we have to pay 10 euros more in stages.
