A new server will serve our site from tomorrow!

This year has brought a lot of changes in the life of our site, so it’s no surprise that we also need to move forward on the hardware front.

Compared to the beginning of this year, the daily number of visitors to our site has increased by almost one hundred percent, while the number of unique visitors per month has increased by about eighty percent. This workload has slowly grown beyond the capacity of our previous hardware, which has also been shown by the fact that access to our site has slowed down several times recently, and our page has become completely inaccessible several times.

So we had to move, and that move caused tonight and is expected to cause some more downtime tomorrow afternoon. I’m not going to reveal a big secret when I describe that so far normal desktops have served HOC and 1-2 other sites that live with us. We had to change this state, so the first step was to buy a DELL server with the following capabilities:

Dell PowerEdge 840

  • Intel 3210 Xeon 2.13 GHz / 1067 FSB / 8MB (105 W),
  • 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM Memory (4 x 1 GB 533 MHz dual rank DIMMs)
  • 4 x 73GB, SAS, 3.5-inch, 10.000 rpm hard drive
  • PowerEdge 1600SC Plastic Filler Panel/Closeout for 1 in.x 5.25
  • CD-RW / DVD ROM IDE Slim
  • 1.44MB Floppy Drive
  • PERC 5 / i SAS RAID Adapter

The new server from the outside

The machine is physically in place today, and is expected to receive its tasks tomorrow, which will serve our database and mail. As a result of the development, we do not expect too much change, but in any case, the time required to download the page will not increase during the busier period, in the best case, the download will be somewhat faster than before.

… And inside

Finally, we would like to ask again our dear readers who work at school papers, or perhaps an acquaintance doing such an activity, to contact us at the [email protected] at! The goal, of course, would be to increase the awareness of our site, so applicants can primarily expect an advertising order from us. Thank You!

We hope that all our visitors will experience this year's changes as positive, and we promise that the quality of the site, the accessibility of the site will only be better than it is now, and we hope that 2008, like this year, will prove our best efforts in the country. create your IT page.
