How to fix defective pixels on our LCD display

An interesting and useful description appeared on the WinBeta website on how to fix faulty pixels on our LCD display.

There are only five easy steps to take, but if we succeed, we will be happy to see that there are no more defective pixels.

We do not take any responsibility for any material damage that may occur, everyone should try the above at their own risk!

1. Turn off the computer.
2. Take a cloth dampened with it, definitely made of a material that can’t scratch the screen.
3. Apply constant pressure to the area where the defective pixel is located. Do not press anywhere else, as this may result in more defective pixels!
4. While pressing the defective pixel area, turn on both the computer and the display.
5. Release the pressure and the defective pixel should disappear.

This method works as follows:

The defective pixel may be formed because the liquid in the liquid crystal does not spread to each pixel. By pressing the area of these, in principle, the liquid also enters the defective pixel, so that it becomes operational.

In theory.

In my experience, this only works in 20% of cases. I called the HP Helpline because of faulty pixels on my laptop display, and they suggested this method, it was all in 2003. Since then, I’ve tried this method on many LCDs, but it has only worked on a fraction of it. In any case, it’s worth a try before we rush to the store to buy a new display.
