Hitachi: Improved fingerprint recognition

Hitachi has introduced the FLORA Se210 notebook, which offers enhanced fingerprint recognition.

The FLORA Se210 does not examine the pattern of our finger, but rather the vein in our finger: they illuminate the finger with LEDs, and depending on the change in the color of the light, a certain pattern is returned to the sensor. If this does not match the data stored on the supplied “KeyMobile” USB key, it will not allow you to enter the system. The heart of the machine is a 600 MHz Celeron processor with 256 MB memory. For security reasons, there is no hard disk in the machine, and the operating system is Windows XP Embedded; this machine is clearly intended for large companies, mobile terminals. The machine will be released on the first of December.
