The GeForce 8500M series is defective

A warranty repair for GeForce 8500M defects will cost NVIDIA about $ 150-200 million.

According to NVIDIA, the casing of the GeForce 8500M GPU was simply too weak against thermal effects, and overheating leads to the "death" of the graphics controller. NVIDIA has acknowledged the error, is replacing the already defective IGPs, and equipping the ones that are still functional with a more durable casing.
