Google Goo.gl will be discontinued soon

With the rise in popularity of Twitter, there has been a need for link compressors to be able to share different links as easily as possible or with as few characters as possible. Unfortunately, the method poses a very serious problem, as spammers can hide their harmful content in this way - so there are security issues.

Goo.gl presumably won’t make it into the history books, as it didn’t really offer something that others wouldn’t have been able to do before. It didn't show any innovation in terms of its implementation either: we got the shortened link using the form on the Google URL Shortener website.

By the way, the search giant also revealed why they came to this decision. Based on the blog post, they will focus their resources on the Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL) tool in the coming weeks; the main advantage of so-called smart links is platform-independent (iOS, Android, web app) operation.

There will be no lucky day for Goo.gl on Friday the 13th, because then it will finally embark on the path of mining - the service can be used until March 2019, 19 by those who have the link generated by goo.gl.
