Norton software is accelerating

Symantec wants to see a significant increase in the performance of its 2009 security software.

Symantec has already made efforts to increase the performance of its 2008 Norton software, but the company does not seem to be satisfied with that. Con Mallon, one of Symantec’s chief marketing officers, said Symantec is still hearing from its customers how much software is slowing down PC speeds and increasing boot and hard drive scan time.

Mallon said Symantec has already taken steps in the past two years to increase the performance of Norton applications. The specialist also revealed some development goals related to security software. According to them, I want the company to reduce the current average installation time of Norton products from 8 to 10 minutes to about one minute. For Norton 360 2.0, it is considered important that the current 20-30 second load time be reduced to a minimum of 10 seconds. In addition, developers should also keep in mind that the size of their software should not exceed 100 MB. According to Mallon, these goals will not be easy to achieve, as very significant changes need to be made in each piece of software.

The increased performance will first be seen in the 2009 versions of Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security, which will be released this year. However, after that, Norton 360 will also receive redesigned components with higher speeds and lower resource requirements.
