GFI MailEssentials 12.0 - Fight PDF-based spam

A new version of the software called GFI MailEssentials for Exchange / SMTP has been introduced, which is already able to fight against the increasingly popular PDF spam.

The latest method now accounts for about 8% of unsolicited mail, which is a pretty scary figure given the age of just one month of the technique. PDF spam that successfully bypasses most mail filters does not contain a message in addition to the general subject line, but only a PDF attachment, in which unwanted information is passed as an embedded image.

The newly released GFI MailEssentials now successfully filters PDF-based spam as well, so updating the software is highly recommended for users.
