HD 7950 to be released in February (updated)

The Radeon HD 7970 had already reached the larger test pages on December 22nd and the leaked news showed that the little salt could start soon too.

HD 7950 to be released in February (updated)

AMD's first card based on the GCN architecture was formally released last year, but it won't hit store shelves in larger quantities until later (January 9). In practice, this was something that could be done, since the large-scale production of a GPU based on 28nm technology is not an easy task due to its brutal complexity (4,31 billion transistors). This is why the HD 7970 is currently in the paper tiger stage. AMD probably wants to avoid this during the second run, so the release of the "smaller" model based on the Tahiti graphics processor is expected in the first weeks of February, but by then it will already be in a larger batch.

In the absence of official information, we are looking forward to developments for the time being.

Updated:

According to Fudzilla, the HD 7950 is expected to start on the last day of January. According to preliminary news, the card includes a 1792 stream processor (28 GCN) and the 384-bit memory bus handles 3GB of GDDR5 video memory. The novelty is expected to cost $ 449.

It’s icing on the cake that rumor has it that NVIDIA’s first Kepler architecture-based solution will also arrive in January and AMD has adapted the HD 7950 to match.
