Somniloquy offers an energy-saving download

The device, which is currently only in the prototype stage, will allow the computer to be able to continue the downloads that have started in the standby mode.

"Somniloquy", born from the collaboration of Microsoft's research department and the computer scientists of the University of San Diego, could burst onto the market as a revolutionary innovation, once a final version is made of it, since according to the developers, the energy used during its operation is only one fifth of the measurable consumption of an average computer when it is ready for operation. Another positive is that the tool is not only suitable for managing downloads, but also enables remote access to the machine, running timed backups and receiving VoIP calls. Little is known about the structure of "Somniloquy" so far, but it is clear from the attached image that it uses a standard memory card to store data. The use of the latter is necessary because it is not possible to operate the hard drive(s) while the machine is asleep. Of course, this is also possible if necessary, but for this the accessory must wake up the computer from sleep, and then switch it to standby mode again after the process is finished. The great advantage of the device is that it handles both wired and wireless networks, and it only requires a free USB port for its operation, and there is no need to modify the operating system.

There is little chance of "Somniloquy" being produced in its current form, however, we would not be at all surprised if the solution would soon be integrated into the motherboards.
