Windows Server 2012 and the free Hyper-V Server 2012 are available

Windows Server 2012 and the free Hyper-V Server 2012 are now available to everyone, announced Satya Nadella, president of Microsoft’s server business.

 

Together, Windows Server 2012, Windows Azure, and System Center 2012 form Microsoft's cloud operating system, which can fully serve and interoperability between physical and virtual servers, as well as private, partner, and public clouds.

“Windows Server 2012 is as much a leap compared to Windows Server 2008 R2 as Windows 2000 Server is compared to Windows NT 4. All the basic capabilities of the server operating system have been radically transformed, be it security, file server, teleworking, virtualization or networking, ”said Péter Budai, Windows Server Product Manager at Microsoft Hungary.

As of September 6, not only has Windows Server 2012 become widely available, but so has the free Hyper-V Server 2012. All virtualization capabilities that come with Windows Server 2012, including high availability, are still available completely free of charge in the form of Hyper-V Server 2012.

“Today, virtualization is a must for any server system, which is why Microsoft makes it available to all its customers for free. The latest version of Hyper-V also competes with all the virtualization solutions currently available - even the most expensive - in terms of scalability, technological capabilities and innovative innovations. ” Péter Budai added.

With the advent of Windows Server 2012, its licensing has also been simplified. The two most important versions became Standard and Datacenter, both containing all the capabilities and knowledge of Windows Server 2012, and both are licensed on a processor-based basis (regardless of the number of processor cores). The main difference is that the Standard version allows you to run two virtual machines, so Microsoft recommends it primarily for physical servers and low virtualization density, and the Datacenter version allows you to run unlimited virtual machines.
