A really interesting initiative from Germany
Fon's business model is based on the fact that network members make the free data traffic capacity of their own home Wi-Fi connection point available to others in a "multi-channel system".
This is done by splitting the access point into an encrypted private channel and a password-protected but open channel. By "sharing" the excess capacity of their own Internet access, the members of the network acquire free Wi-Fi access rights in the entire area of Fon's operation. Fon also sells bundled wireless Internet access to network providers.
