D-Link's product range expands on the Draft n line

From October, four new network devices will be able to use the latest generation wireless standard.

The market-leading manufacturer of the new generation of wireless n standard, D-Link, is expanding its product range with four new products and aims to be a clear leader. With the price of the new home router approaching the G standard, the Express Card with the proliferation of the latest notebooks, while the ADSL router could conquer the market for customers who like all-in-one devices. Of course, even the latest devices have an 11-year manufacturer's warranty.

At the end of 2005, D-Link introduced its wireless product line, based on the draft n standard, which has meanwhile undergone significant compatibility development, and is finally a solution for covering larger homes and smaller offices without missing points with a single device. The only deterrent so far has been price, as the price of n standard devices - although to an even greater extent - was many times higher than the G devices prevalent today. For price-sensitive but novelty-minded customers, D-Link has developed the DIR-615 Wireless N home router, which with 2 external and 2 internal antennas multiplies coverage and wireless speed, yet does so at an affordable price. The recommended gross end-user price of the product is expected to be below HUF 108 at D-Link's Preferred Partners, approaching 17Mbps devices.

The DWA-556 is now available in most PCs but has a PCI Express x1 motherboard connector supported by few manufacturers, while the DWA-643 is now the ideal accessory for notebooks with only an ExpressCard interface in some cases. In addition to the 802.11b / g protocols, both devices are compatible with the draft 802.11n standard, with a theoretical maximum transfer rate of 300 Mbps, and when paired with an N router, they finally make high-speed networking truly mobile. Of course, the new tools are already compatible with Windows Vista, and you can even download the recently announced Yahoo Widget for DIR-615 (http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/view.php?widget=42401).

The fourth product is a real all-in-one: it includes D-Link's hugely popular ADSL 2/2 + modem, which supports download speeds of up to 24Mbps, depending on the pace of domestic service providers. In addition, it has draft n wireless interfaces, QoS and TriplePlay support, and four 10 / 100Mbps ports. Of course, the DSL-2741B Wireless N ADSL 2+ Modem Router is also compliant with the AG standard, making it an ideal start to upgrading your home or small office wireless fleet.
