In top form are the ASRock and Core i7-3770K
Nick Shih wasn’t unknown in tuning circles until now, but now he’s made it once again to get to know even more.
There are processors with which relatively high clock speeds can be achieved relatively easily. The AMD FX-8150, for example, broke the record last summer held by an 8309 MHz Celeron D 352. Somewhat later, Andre Yang spun a commercially purchased copy up to 8461,51 MHz. Since then, several additional records have been set.
Ivy Bridge-based CPUs are harder to give success, due to their design they are likely to never reach such heights, but for many, the challenge itself is important.
The Core i77-7K resting on the ASRock Z3770 OC Formula motherboard was able to withstand a 1,92 MHz operating frequency at a core voltage of 7136 volts, which is the result of a 113,28 MHz BCLK clock and a multiplier of 63. With this result, Nick Shih set a new record within the category. By the CPU-Z certified results can already be found at In the HWbot system.
It is important to mention that the tuning master used a commercially available version, three of the four processor cores are disabled (now Hyper-Threading technology did not play either), and it is also interesting information that a good amount of liquid helium provided cooling.
