Core 2 Extreme CPU for laptops too!

Intel will launch new Core 2 mobile processors in the second half of this year.

The Merom core processors are previous Core 2 Duo mobile family compared to most of its members, they represent an improvement over their 800 MHz FSB, while with the exception of the T7250, the size of the second-level cache is 4 MB in all cases.

The 2,60 GHz Core 2 Extreme X7800 will be unveiled in the third quarter and will support a number of Intel technologies - VT, EIST, EM64T and XD / NX bits - with only Intel Dynamic Acceleration left out. At the end of the year, the top processor will be taken over by the 2,80 GHz X7900, which is virtually identical to the X7800, the only difference being the larger clock speed.

Two new Core 2 Duo processors will also join the offering in the final quarter. The 2,60 GHz T7800 is essentially exactly the same as the X7800, the advancement here being the availability of support for Intel Dynamic Acceleration technology. Also coming at the end of the year, the 2GHz T7250 can be seen as a dumb version of the T7300, with the size of the second level cache reduced from 4 to 2 MB.
