CES 2008: Back to tradition with the curved screen?

This year’s consumer electronics show also holds surprises.

The four-day CES 2008 in Las Vegas kicked off yesterday, which must have been awaited by a lot of technically-minded fanatics - if only for the presentation of future products. We’re sure most of our readers will still remember the days when we spent long, self-forgotten hours crouching in front of the most hemispherical-like screen.

Let’s not be so scared, fortunately our current news is not about recalling the past. However, it is true that we are still talking about something similar, just the opposite: now the display is not curving towards us, but away from us, and the resolution can no longer be said to be the same. So what is it about?

Alienware has announced its latest miracle, which, of course, is aimed primarily at gamer-minded - and affluent - users. It’s a display that covers much of the player’s field of vision, giving the delinquent even more interactivity. The resolution is 2880 × 900 pixels, so we will need - at least one - high-end video card to drive the panel. Since we can talk about rear-projection DLP technology in the case of the novelty, the response time should not be a problem, which was specified by the manufacturer as 0,02 ms.

We are curious to see when and for how much these great ones will be available in stores.
