CeBIT 2009: Shaped portable machine from ASRock

Everything we loved and everything we have missed so far from a netbook is now available.

While the ASRock name doesn’t sound as well known in the public consciousness as the netbook’s ancestor ASUS, the MultiBook G12 allows the company to lay down new rules in the segment. It differs from the rivals of the netbook / subnotebook categories at several significant points, but the engineers touched with good sense only those components about which the original concept was criticized. In light of this, we’re finally getting an optical drive for our money, plus the display has gained some weight: while we thought it was a shame to stave up the 12,1-inch panel resolution, some will certainly be pleased with the display at 1280 × 800 pixels. In the case of small machines, the keyboard is also a key point, but based on the pictures, we take the risk that even the grown-up male hands will be able to easily navigate on this device. Unfortunately, there are still some obscure spots about the hardware capabilities of the MultiBook G12, but the dual-core Intel Atom N330 processor, 2GB of DDR2 memory, up to 500GB of SATA hard drive, and 802.11b / g / n-compatible Wi-Fi The existence of a Fi network controller already seems certain.

The expected purchase price of the device, which is expected to debut around May, has not been announced by ASRock, so we can only hope that the G12, like the manufacturer's other products, will have a friendly price tag.
