Blu-ray vs. HD DVD - more and more serious price competition

The battle between Blu-ray and HD DVD standards is not going to subside, it is getting stronger. Both camps are trying to run their products before the summer season.

Toshiba is offering its HD-A100 HD DVD player for as much as $2 less between May 20 and June 9, dropping the price from $399 to $299. In addition, from June 10-16, as part of the so-called "Father's Day" promotion, it also offers a $100 discount on any Toshiba HD DVD player. If the promotions weren't enough, customers can get 31 HD DVD movies for free by e-mail registration until June 5.

The counter-camp is not to be feared either, as Panasonic has launched a film promotion similar to the recently unveiled DMP-BD10A player. Unfortunately, Panasonic doesn’t give you a chance to choose, but don’t be discouraged as we get movies like Pirates of the Caribbean 1-2, Fantastic Four, Collisions and Supplier alongside the player. Not a bad package for $ 599.
