Sony told LG!

Sony told LG!A few weeks ago, a study was published at the request of LG. Sony has now responded.

LG’s study sought to answer whether customers prefer the active or polarized 3D process when buying a new 3D television. The answer was clear, the polarized the better. Sony has now reflected on this survey, which is no wonder, as a TV with polarized 3D technology is currently only produced by LG, and competition is still forcing active, i.e. shutter technology.

Sony head of department Mike Abary writes that shoppers make more decisions based on price when buying devices, and according to a May 2011 figure, sales of devices using active and polarized technology affect one-to-one. Of course, not a single really percussive argument could be left out of the statement that shuttered televisions provide full HD images not only in 2D but also in 3D.

We would note that the first two statements in the statement prove nothing, as the question of which technology has a better 3D feel cannot be answered by which one is cheaper. And the fact that six times as many shutters as polarized sold out is more favorable data for LG, as this means that at least one in six 3D TVs was made by LG, as all other manufacturers have shutters on the market.

It’s a recurring issue for full HD resolution 3D content, as LG uses a method similar to interlaced display. One of the series of images is made for the right and the other for the left eye, thus creating a sense of space. This in turn means that the vertical resolution is halved for the 3D image. True, LG, citing a study, claims that their TV also gives a full HD picture, as in the brain the images from the two eyes come together into a whole, so it doesn’t matter at all that the right and left eyes are separate in full HD you get an image, or only two eyes get it at a time. For our part, we do not want to argue with this study, but we can safely say that even from a distance of 4 meters, a 126-centimeter display requires a good eye to distinguish between 720p and 1080p.
