About SSDs in general

About SSDs in generalComputer Emporium Silicon Power has written a general summary of flash memory storage devices called SSDs. In connection with this, we asked Lívia Sebestyén, marketing manager.

Silicon Power SSD

Thanks to the solid state memory, it retains data for a long time and, like the known hard disks, connects via SATA or other (SCSI, PCI Express, USB, PATA, etc.) interfaces and similarly provides blocked data access. Other features include low power consumption, impact resistance and high reliability.

The latter includes its extraordinary speed, which makes any system more efficient. Write and read latency can be measured in microseconds, and its write and read speeds are 17 to 20 times faster than previously known systems, providing a huge advantage over standard hard drives. For our existing operating systems - both 32-bit and 64-bit - we can easily upgrade them, we will experience noticeable acceleration in their use.

Unlike normal HDDs, it hardly generates heat, as there are no friction parts in it (making it quieter, of course), so the SSD does not require additional cooling.

In addition, Silicon Power SSDs have built-in error correction code, Wear Leveling (this technology allows the data write cycle to be smooth across all cells), Trim Command (a TRIM command that can be executed without affecting operation), and the Garbage Collection, which it also speeds up the consistency between erasure and write speed.

What are the benefits of an external SSD?

Shock and vibration free. A conventional hard drive is prone to failure when the print head and turntables are subject to shock or vibration. Mechanical moving parts have a higher error rate than the SSD’s “non-moving” controller, so SSD users don’t have to worry about mechanical failures.

The SMART (Self Monitor Analysis Report Technology) application is responsible for reliable operation and predicts when a failure is expected with the SSD.

All of these features make Silicon Power SSDs particularly reliable, extend product life, and help you stay consistent in the quality of your data storage.

HOC: What inspired you to compile the SSD overview?

Lívia Sebestyén: We were encouraged to write the presentation by the fact that people in general do not know what an SSD is, which can significantly improve their computer.

HOC: How are SSD sales at Computer Emporium IT wholesaler evolving?

Lívia Sebestyén: Fortunately, SP SSD sales are growing, we don't know the exact data, but the price of the SSD is lower and lower and it is predicted that it will replace the traditional HDD in a few years. Sales show a 150% increase over the same period last year.

HOC: Which models are customers most looking for?

Lívia Sebestyén: Which of the most popular models depends only on the customer's expectations. All three models are popular. They feature the E20 and V20 USB 2.0, and the V30 is the fastest USB 3.0 SSD on the market.

HOC: What sales figures and trends are expected for SSDs?

Lívia Sebestyén: It shows a growing trend, Silicon Power SSDs are available at a really good price compared to other SSDs, and this price is coupled with good performance.

Silicon Power products are sold by resellers a From Computer Emporium can buy. End users can get information about the names of the stores selling the products and the current offer through the contact details on the website.
