The Intel P45 supports CrossFireX

As is well known, Intel’s chipset family called Eaglelake will debut in the second half of 2008.

Replacing the P35, the Intel P45, paired with the ICH10 South Bridge, equips the motherboards built around it with very pleasant features, without claiming to be exhaustive:

  • management of 45 nm Intel CPUs: according to the slide below, models with 1600 MHz FSB are not supported, but according to an unofficial source, this may still "change"
  • two PCI Express 2.0 sockets, knowledge of ATI CrossFireX technology
  • handling 1333 MHz DDR3 modules up to 8 GB
