The first high-speed external DVD-RAM burner from Logitect

Japan's Logitec, which has nothing to do with a company with a similar name known for its branded accessories, has for the first time announced an external optical drive with 12 × DVD-RAM, 8 × DVD +/- DL and 16 × DVD + R / -R characterized by write speed.

Logitec plans to launch two versions of Panasonic's internal drivers right away: one, the LDR-MA16FU2 / WM, which will also come with USB 2.0 and FireWire, and will be compatible with both Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. The other is called the LDR-MA16U2, which will only be equipped with a USB 2.0 port and will be available in Japan in late March, at the same time as the other models. The target prices will be around 16 and 380 yen (this corresponds to approximately 14 and 175 forints).

The main feature of the drives is 12 × DVD-RAM writing (only for Class 1, DVD-RAM Ver.2.2 discs, click for more information ide), but the following writing properties can also be classified here: 8× DVD+R/-R DL, 16× DVD+R/-R, 8× DVD+RW, 6× DVD-RW and 48x/32x CD-R/RW. Of course, the writers also read the previous version, 3x and 5x speed DVD-RAM discs. In order to achieve even greater compatibility, the drives also support the "Booktype setting" function for DVD+R discs.
