AMD says the Barcelona K10 will knock out Intel

AMD’s true quad-core solution, the Barcelona-coded processor with a K10 core, will be faster than Intel’s solutions entering a similar market segment.

At least that's what, according to our source, AMD's European Technical Director, Guiseppe Amato.

The higher the speed of the it will be provided by a redesigned core and a cache with three levels, combined with an advanced memory controller. According to an AMD official, the solution that fits into the Socket F slot will be faster than the competitor proposed by Intel, but at the same time, he also admits that the larger chip manufacturer has produced very good results with its products. In this regard, he did not forget to mention that, in their opinion, Intel was able to achieve good results in those applications that "suited" them.

For our part, we would add to the question that every medal has two sides, decisive evidence will be available when Barcelona gets to the test table. More specifically, it will be highly questionable even then, as to date there is no software that can take full advantage of the performance of four cores, making it difficult to test correctly.
