ATI R600 is guaranteed in the first quarter

According to The Inquirer, the cards will be on the shelves as early as March.

Referring to an official announcement, we can read that production of the R600 inserts is scheduled to begin in February. What’s for sure is that it’s made at a strip width of 80 nanometers and supports 4.0 shades. It will have HDMI and HDCP support, as well as Blu-Ray and HD DVD decoding.

Cards based on the R600 will be the first to require an external cable to use CrossFire. According to the information, the test cards still had GDDR3 memories, but the final release is already coming with GDDR4.
