ASUS netbook with optical drive

Although the proliferation of netbooks is unbroken, there are indications that ASUS is not fully satisfied with the Eee series: the 1004DN optical drive could hit the market.

Despite the fact that the raison d'être of netbooks is irrefutable in view of the increase in sales, from the beginning of the appearance of the category, a critique has been accompanying the expansion of the small machines, which dissects the reasons for the absence of an optical drive. According to the manufacturers, the drastic step is justified solely by the reduction of the size of the devices, but according to bad language, the saving of the already dying sub-notebook market provided the real arguments for taking a step that is far from beneficial from the user's point of view. Be that as it may, ASUS seems to be breaking the ice, as the Eee PC 1004DN machine will include a DVD writer capable of handling dual-layer discs as a standard accessory. The device with a "chiclet" keyboard also holds a surprise, as it pays special attention to security, thanks to the integrated fingerprint reader. The inclusion of the Express Card socket can be a reason for further joy, thanks to which the knowledge set of the small machine can be expanded further by using expansion cards.
