ASUS Monitors - They're beautiful and they know a lot, isn't that a lot of good?

As you read in the introduction, the new monitors bring new ones primarily in terms of exterior. The new MS series is interesting in several ways, at least when you look at its appearance. During unpacking, two things appear. One that is almost weightless is expensive, the other that is extremely thin. The panel housing with a 23-inch diagonal that supports full HD resolution is only 16,5 millimeters thick. It’s also interesting in terms of numbers, but it really gets interesting when we grab it, we lift it. The thickest part is around the center of the monitor, and towards the edges, this thickness continues to decrease, making the experience it offers almost breast-chopping.

The next thing of interest is the lack of a sole and the design of a support that prevents the sole or tipping over. The latter is nothing more than a plastic ring. It is clear from the pictures that this ring is quite tiny. However, the monitor is stable for two reasons. On the one hand, leaning on the two corners of the display and the ring, there are the three points needed for stability, on the other hand, this ring is also somewhat flexible, so if you push the display from the front, it does not tip over the rear brace. .

Regarding the exterior, unfortunately, we also have to report a small negative, and that comes from the buttons used for control. The fact that a touch-sensitive solution was used instead of physical buttons would not be a problem, as “buttonlessness” is more good for the device. The trouble is, these buttons didn’t seem sensitive enough. We do not claim that the device cannot be set up, but on several occasions they only responded to a second or third touch. Luckily, the setup operation doesn’t have to be done daily, so this little negative won’t affect users ’perceptions of the device in the wrong direction.

Speaking of settings, let's say a few words about that. The menu is absolutely “ASUS”, meaning we get what we’re used to from the manufacturer. We find several preset profiles to adjust the image, but based on our experience so far, we say that perhaps the default setting is the best. True, this is quite subjective, as tastes and slaps can change, as they say.

Turn the monitor over, let's see what we find on your butt! First of all, notice that there is no trace of a connector that is common to standard three-pin bums power supplies. This is because the device comes with an external power supply. This can have several beneficial effects. On the one hand, the extent of the covering may remain smaller, on the other hand, the structure does not heat up as much. In addition to the power connector, there is also an HDMI and a D-Sub socket as well as an audio output. Output because the speaker does not hide a speaker, but an audio signal can also be received via HDMI.

Let's see what the display offers in terms of image quality! Browsing the factory data, we may think that we cannot find many errors, as the contrast ratio is 50000: 1, the brightness is 250 cd / m2, and the response time is 2 ms, and the viewing angle is 170 degrees. Reading these data, we might think we can come across outstanding image quality, but we say that the MS236H is more average. Of course, this average only applies to LED displays of its own kind. There is no problem with colors, but blacks could have been blacker, plus the TN panel is in the habit of hiding fine details from images from us. The 170-degree viewing angle also feels a bit exaggerated, although it’s true you can still see what’s in the picture from that angle.

If one now thinks that the display has been pulled down, then we are essentially right, but it is worth repeating that the above defects are the average, usual defects of TN panels, we should not be surprised by these, regardless of type, manufacturer we experience these phenomena. Well, but these sentences are more for the final evaluation, so let’s move on to the next display!
