Archos 9 Tablet PC in late October

The exact release date of the new machine is October 22.

It was officially announced in June that the Archos 9 tablet PC would come, but only in October. Since then, however, summer has flown by, and slowly we’re really writing October. It's just a coincidence (we don't take that seriously, of course) that the exact release date is October 22, which is also the day of the Windows 7 world premiere, when the new operating system will be available to the masses. The interesting gadget will be available in black and white, weighs just 820 grams, has a display of 8,9 inches, has a native resolution of 1024 × 600 and is of course touch controlled. The soul of the tablet is a 1,1 GHz Atom Z510 processor, with 1GB of memory and 60GB of hard drive, so no one should expect breakthrough performance. 

The Archos 9 will run a Starter Edition of Windows 7, and the tablet PC is expected to take home $ 499 in the United States.
