AMD: There won’t be a Bulldozer in SeptemberAnother delay was announced by the number two processor manufacturer for its latest processors.

On the one hand, it started with good news yesterday, but closed less that way in the afternoon. It was previously announced that shipments of Bulldozer-based server processors have begun, so processors running under the code name Interlagos will soon arrive at OEM partners who can begin integrating them into servers and workstations. The first finished products are expected in October, so AMD is unfortunately slipping into the fourth quarter with the long-awaited new architecture.

The server processors in the Opteron family will be part of the Opteron 6000 and Opteron 4000 series, with a choice of 8, 12 and 16 core processors, respectively, which are fully compatible with the current G34 enclosure, so it will be possible to upgrade existing ones at a relatively low cost. workstations, which is good news for many, including probably the manufacturer, as it will certainly expand the range of users faster. The processor has got a four-channel memory controller and provides 1 MB of third-level cache for each core, so 16 MB is already available for the largest Interlagos.

It may have become clear to many that Zambezi, which includes Bulldozer desktop processors, will also not be released on AMD’s promised Septerberber Day 29, as AMD primarily supports the server market as there are more gains to be made over the chips. According to AMD, which says shipments will start here at the end of the month, we can also get these processors to market in October at the earliest. We hope no more slips are expected.
