AMD Barcelona v Intel Xeon - Cinebench test

The editors at Dailytech were lucky enough to test AMD’s new K10-based server processor for a few minutes.

In just a few minutes, he ran for only one Cinebench measurement, but several conclusions can be drawn from this one result. Of course, a system with an Intel Xeon processor was right at hand, so testing became bloody competition right away.

Let's see the test configurations:

  • AMD
    • AMD K10 Barcelona 1,6 GHz
    • nForce Professional 3400 motherboard
    • 4 GB DDR2-667 memory
  • Intel
    • Xeon 3220 2,4 GHz (Kentsfield)
    • Intel Garlow X38 workstation motherboard
    • 4 GB DDR2-800 memory

Now let the results come in pictures:

AMD Barcelona v Intel Xeon - Cinebench test

AMD K10 Barcelona 1,6 GHz Cinebench result: 27 seconds

AMD Barcelona v Intel Xeon - Cinebench test

Intel Xeon 3220 2,4 GHz Cinebench result: 17 seconds

Even before anyone regrets or even goes for a dance of joy, it’s worth keeping in mind that Intel’s processor is 800 MHz in terms of clock speed. It is not yet known what the final revision and higher clock copies will be able to do. Towards the end of July at the earliest, we can get a clearer picture of the final performance of the K10.
