First test results from Conroe

We have barely reported on the official announcement of the Core architecture, thanks to AnandTech we can already gain insight into its performance.

A Conroe core the test compares a 2,66 GHz central unit with a 2,8 Athlon 64 X2. The results show that the presentations contained real information: in both games and video encoding, there is a significant advantage in favor of Intel’s chip, 10-30 percent depending on the program.

Going from top to bottom: the quad-core Kentsfield, the Extreme Edition’s new propulsion engine, the dual-core Conroe / Merom, and the soon-to-be-dropped, also dual-core Pentium D.
