The world's fastest hard drive!

Seagate’s 15-speed media boasts the title of the world’s fastest hard drive.

The newest member of the Savvio product family, the 2,5-inch Savvio 15K is not the first HDD with an engine speed of 15 rpm, so it would not yet qualify for the title of the world’s fastest hard drive. Yes, but Seagate claims that it can deliver speeds about 10% faster than the same-speed but 3,5-inch Cheetah 15K.5, all thanks to better fuel economy and increased reliability.

In the case of the hard disk recommended for server machines, perpendicular magnetic data recording technology has, of course, been used, which is increasingly displacing the horizontal solution that provides lower data density. The Savvio 15K comes with 36 and 73 GB capacity, 16 MB cache and a SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) interface.

High-volume sales of the Savvio 15K for server machines have already begun at Seagate, with the first shipments already arriving for OEM partners. As a result, the HP ProLiant server family is now available with the Seagate Recorder.
