Blu-ray discs will have a capacity of 25 to 50 gigabytes, while competing HD-DVDs will only be able to store 15 to 30 gigabytes of data: for special models, this can be as much as 45 gigabytes using a third layer of media. The BDP-S1 can currently be pre-ordered for $ 1000, but that price is sure to drop rapidly over the next few months. Of course, let’s not forget that LG is also recently announced its combined HD-DVD / Blu-ray player will also be available soon.
