Verbatim's new external drive also provides information on free storage capacity

When we think that it is no longer possible to introduce more novelties in the hard drive market, there always comes a manufacturer who on the fly refutes our previous view.

This time, Verbatim has come up with a useful/useless novelty, which is presented for the first time in the InSight USB product line. The newly introduced solution is nothing more than a tiny display, aptly named "Always On" by the manufacturer. The essence of the solution is that the display with a resolution of 32 × 128 pixels allows us to get an idea of the saturation of the hard disk and the name of the unit even if it is not currently connected to a computer. The latter information comes in handy if you have more than one InSight, so you'll always know exactly which hard drive you're holding.

Unfortunately, in addition to the extra display, Verbatim's novelty does not offer any special features: the device, which weighs only 164 grams, includes a 5400 rpm hard drive, which can have a capacity of 300 or 500 GB, depending on the customer's choice. The unit is powered by a USB 2.0 port that is also responsible for data transfer, so there is no need to use an external power supply.

For the model with a piano lacquer finish, we have to leave HUF 23 and HUF 29, respectively, at the checkout, depending on the chosen storage capacity. The purchase price also includes the price of the Nero BackItUp Essentials software included with the device.
