Sony has unveiled a webcam for the PlayStation 3
Named PlayStation Eye, it will hit store shelves over the summer, and we don't have price information yet.
The device, which plugs into a USB 2.0 port, is also equipped with a microphone, so the PlayStation Eye meets all the needs of video and audio chats and online gaming on PlayStation Network.
The webcam, which produces a beautiful image even in low light conditions, works at 320 × 240 at 120 and 640 × 480 at 60 frames per second. An ingenious solution is to adjust the image captured by the camera according to your position - close to face or full body.
The PlayStation Eye comes with a software garnish, of course: with EyeCreate, you can easily and quickly save your photos and videos to your PS3 hard drive. Still images are stored as JPEG, while movies are stored as uncompressed video.
