Sony Blu-ray Writer does not play copy-protected content
Sony's first Blu-ray optical drive cannot handle copy-protected discs.
This means that the Sony Blu-ray writer does not have HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) support. Nevertheless, Sony believes that its optical drive can be a success, as very few products currently have such a rating, and is an ideal choice for playing high-definition, unprotected videos and archiving large amounts of data.
Available for $ 750, the PATA-enabled Sony BWU-100A can burn traditional DVDs at 24x speed, CDs at XNUMXx speed, and BR discs at twice the speed.
