The PS3 will be the most expensive console on the market

George Fornay, European Vice President of Sony Computer, said the next-generation game console will cost € 500.

George Fornay told a radio interview in France today that the official price of the PlayStation 500 will be somewhere between € 600 and € 3 in Europe. He acknowledged that this may seem a bit peppery to prospective buyers at first, but when you consider that you can own a Blu-ray compatible player along with the console after your purchase, you can already look at the price just announced with a different eye.

The vice president also confirmed that the device will be released sometime in November this year. “I can’t say a closer date because we want to stand out to customers with a product that’s ready in every way, but one thing’s for sure: by Christmas, everyone can put their favorite machine under the tree,” George Fornay added.

Keep in mind, however, that the official European price for the more expensive version of the Xbox 360 is currently around € 400. Nintendo has also announced its expected prices: the Revolution will launch under $ 300 overseas. It also shows that the PS3 can expect big opponents, yet Sony is very confident about it: is it conceivable that they really manage to throw together an all-hitting machine?
