Netizens do not trust websites

According to a security survey, users are increasingly concerned about the security of their confidential information on the Internet.

Research firm SMSR in England conducted a survey that sought primarily to map users ’internet habits and concerns about the World Wide Web. The survey concluded with testimonial results, as it was found that users have less and less trust in websites and are seriously concerned about the security of their personal information.

SMSR conducted its security survey by interviewing 1000 users in the UK. More than 80 percent of respondents said they were very concerned about the use, transmission, and security of their personal information provided on the websites. Richard Thomas, an SMSR expert, said users ’concerns about the handling of their personal data are growing. This, of course, is not surprising, as more and more threats are to be expected. However, Thomas also pointed out that more needs to be done to protect personal information. Users need to be more careful, but website operators need to make clear why the requested data is needed and what their fate will be once it is provided on the Internet.
