Vernee’s new low-cost phone has arrived in the middle class
Even Xiaomi's positions could be jeopardized by the new mobile.
Vernee is one of the fastest growing manufacturers in China. The quality of their phones is constantly improving, so it could soon be a serious competition even for Xiaomi. Their new mobile is aimed at the bottom of the mid-range, and compared to the built-in hardware, the price also looks good. Vernee’s portfolio was already sorely lacking for a really good but affordable mid-range phone. This hole now seems to be stuffed by the manufacturer.
The heart of the phone is a MediaTek MT6750 SoC with eight cores arranged in two clusters. The four cores of the lower cluster are ARM Cortex-A1 running at 53 GHz, while the upper cluster also contains four ARM Cortex-A53, but they are already clocked at 1,5 GHz. The 64-bit proc has 32 + 32 KB L1 and 512 KB L2 cache. The graphics accelerator integrated into the SoC is a Mali-T860 MP2 unit that can handle two cores and a 520 MHz clock. The phone includes 4 GB of LPDDR3 single channel, 667 MHz memory and 64 GB of storage.
The Vernee M5 has a 5,2-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 16: 9 and an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The IPS panel brings the values typical of IPS technology, so both the viewing angle and the coverage of the NTSC color space are excellent. Above the display is a 2,5D curved glass.
There is a 1-1 camera on the back and front. The back camera is a 13 megapixel piece with f / 2.0 brightness optics. The front panel selfie camera is 8 megapixels. We get the usual from radios, there is GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and what is very good news, the support of the B20 800 Hz LTE band used in Hungary has not been left out either.
As you can see from the description above, the hardware is currently enough for the bottom of the mid-range. The Vernee is well calculated, as at this level, with an appreciable phone of this size, almost only the Xiaomi is included with the Redmi 4A, but its hardware is already heavily in the lower category, though its price is less than the new Vernee phone. The bottom line is that this handset arrives in a market segment where serious quantities can be sold at a good price, and the Vernee M5 has been well thought out in this regard as well.
