Google combines Gmail and Google Talk

Within a few weeks, all users will be able to use the combined Gmail and Google Talk service.

Renowned for its search engine, Google Inc. has announced plans to merge the popular Gmail email service with Google Talk instant messaging. As a result, users will be able to see a list of their Google Talk contacts within Gmail, so they can even contact them instantly via instant messaging (similar to how Hotmail and MSN Messenger communicate with each other). With this step, Google wants to lure as many users as possible from the competition offering similar solutions.

Of course, Google also wants more users to use its products because it could increase its revenue from ads, which it made $ 1,5 billion in 2005. Users can use services with enhanced features for free, invite their family and friends to use the service, and so Google ads will appear more than once, which of course generates more revenue.

Salar Kamangar, Google’s vice president of product development, said Google Talk integration will be available in Gmail accounts on Tuesday, and within a few weeks, all Gmail users will be able to use the new features.
