Fujitsu Siemens Computers is recalling the batteries of some of its notebooks

Fujitsu Siemens Computers is recalling the batteries of some AMILO notebooks. The company decided to launch a proactive replacement program after receiving an extremely limited number of feedback from its customers about battery failures.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers recommends that its customers stop using the battery in the affected models and continue to use only an AC adapter to power their notebook.

The company provides a free replacement battery to its affected customers. To replace the www.fujitsu-siemens.hu/akkumulatorcsere page for help.

“We treat customer satisfaction and safety as a priority. That’s why a proactive exchange program is also important to us, and we want to get the news out to as many of our customers as possible, ”said Amy Flécher, a spokeswoman for the company. "We guarantee the quality of our products and do our best to meet our customers' expectations of our company."
Details of the exchange program are provided below:
Product name: Lithium-ion batteries for the following notebooks:
Computer model name: Last item in battery model number:
AMILO A7640
AMILO A1640
AMILO M1405
AMILO M1424
AMILO M1425
AMILO M7405
AMILO M7424
AMILO M7425
AMILO Pro V2020 Number of all battery models involved
It ends in G1L1.
The replacement program does not affect any other AMILO, AMILO Pro or LIFEBOOK batteries.
Computer manufacturer: Fujitsu Siemens Computers
Risk: Failure of some batteries can cause the cells to overheat, which can result in a fire hazard.
Frequency: Fujitsu Siemens Computers has received feedback on battery overheating in four cases so far. The error potentially affects 250 units. No personal injury reports were received up to the date of this notice.
Place of sale: Computers containing the batteries concerned were sold between October 2004 and the present date by distributors, resellers, catalog stores and retail units. The units were sold as spare batteries in some cases.
Action: The company recommends that its customers immediately discontinue use of the affected batteries and order a replacement unit from Fujitsu Siemens Computers. The replacement battery is free. After removing the battery from the AMILO or AMILO Pro, we ask our customers to supply their notebook with an AC adapter until the replacement unit arrives.
Web ordering: We ask our customers to remove the unit from their computer to check the battery and look for the label on it (see picture). If the last item in the model number is G1L1, the battery must be replaced. If the number does not end in G1L1, the recall does not affect the unit. No batteries in any other notebook type (AMILO, AMILO Pro or LIFEBOOK) are included in the replacement program.
How can I check the model number of my notebook?
The model number is located on a label on the bottom of the machine. The number is placed in the middle of the label:

What to do next: If the model number indicates that your notebook is affected, remove the battery and check the last item in the battery pack model number. How to remove the battery:
Turn off the notebook and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
Close the LCD screen.
Disconnect the cables connected to the notebook.
Turn the notebook over and place it on a stable, level surface.
Push the battery lock in the direction of the arrows and hold it in this position. (Arrows are on the battery lock.)
Remove the battery.

Then check the end of the Battery Pack. If the battery ID number ends with G1L1 (the part circled in red in the illustration), the battery must be replaced. Battery packs ending in another number are not affected by the replacement program.

For safety and environmental reasons, we ask our customers to hand over potentially defective batteries to our partner when receiving a new battery!
