Opera has signed up with a 64-bit browser

Opera has signed up with a 64-bit browserNorwegian Opera Software has unveiled the latest developer preview for its desktop PC browser, which has been given version number 12.00.1211.

We would state at the outset that this is one developer preview (Labs Release), as a result, it is only used to try out, present, and test new products. It is not recommended to use it under live conditions, but it can be tried after "installation" as a portable version. This release includes the hardware acceleration that appeared in the first alpha version of Opera 12 and the subsequent innovations.

Plugins as a separate process

Other browsers have been using this technique for some time. Among the threats to stability, there is a very prominent place related to plug-ins if_leall_a_flashfrostbite. The solution to this problem is to run the plugins in a separate process (opera_plugin_wrapper), independently of each other and the browser. If the plug-in stops running on the webpage, the image on the right will appear in place of the plug-in.

Browse 64 bits

The other significant innovation is the 64-bit edition, which, according to the developers, can bring a performance increase in certain areas. The browser is also able to run 32-bit plug-ins through the "Out of Process Plugins" procedure detailed above.
