A 33,8 gigapixel panoramic image of Prague was taken

360Cities has created the largest panoramic image of Prague to date. The 33,8 gigapixel image was taken from 2600 separate photos.

360Cities - the largest geo-referenced, dazzling panoramic collection on the internet - created a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic image of 2600 separate images taken from the Petřín Tower in the Czech capital. The 33,8 gigapixel image is the largest shot of Prague ever. The image size is 260 x 000 pixels, created by Jeffrey Martin, founder of 130Cities. This photo is the latest piece in a special series that shows huge panoramic images of big cities photographed from the most important towers in the cities. This shot follows last year’s 000 gigapixel photo of London in a row taken from the top of the BT Tower. One of the next cities in the series is planned to be Tokyo.

Martin’s previous projects in Prague include a 2011 panoramic photo of the historic Library of Philosophy at the Strahov Monastery. This is the largest indoor photograph in the world. Martin’s previous 2009 record was an 18-gigapixel image of Prague taken from the Žižkov TV Tower. “This time we decided to take a photo of the Petřín Lookout Tower, built in 1891, which gives a much more romantic and unique picture of Prague than the TV Tower. Anyone who views the image can also become part of the photo; it can almost touch the Charles Bridge or the National Theater, ”Martin explained. To create the unique image, the 360Cities chose the Canon 1D-X camera (which is the pinnacle of the Canon SLR series) using a Canon 28-300 L and 8-15 fisheye lens. The camera was mounted on the head of a Clauss Rodeon robot tripod and then a high-performance Celsius R920 workstation provided by Fujitsu Technology Solutions Europe merged the raw images into a finished panorama. The panoramic photo is protected by a Creative Commons license. This means that the image can be used by anyone for non-commercial purposes.
