An Apple IIe is still operational after 30 years

We can tell a story that fits a fairy tale, starring John Pfaff, a professor at Fordham University of Law in New York. The gentleman in question came across the attic of his parents' house and came across a perfectly functioning Apple IIe, which is not a common phenomenon after 30 years. This in itself is very rare, but the icing on the cake was when the professor found a toy for him (Adventureland, a masterpiece by Scott Adams published in 1978) that the machine immediately recognized and then loaded to save it - we emphasize, all on a 30 year old computer! Pfaff then tried a number of other titles (Millionware, Olympic Decathlon, and Neuromancer), claiming he felt like he was 10 years old again.
We can’t imagine what the professor might have experienced when he found the letter on the machine that his father had written back in 1986 - at this point you need to know Pfaff’s father died almost exactly a year ago.
The value of the Apple IIe is well indicated by the fact that the base price was close to $ 1 (equivalent to about 400 green bellies today), and the monitor also tasted a modest $ 3 (which is about $ 500), so not specifically for mass it is.
