28 nanometers in up to a year?

As of now, this is far from unthinkable.

The IBM Semiconductor Alliance has recently been enriched by the closer cooperation of two very important partners: NEC and Toshiba are deploying great forces for the "Big Blue" to help put the 28 nm manufacturing technology into practice. This is no small task, as the engineers are slowly running into physical limits, but 28 nm is still not nearly unattainable with the use of HKMG technology ("high-k metal gate": transistors with a high k constant), which is even more energy-saving and has a higher computing capacity for mobile and entertainment would mean the creation of tools.

28 nanometers in up to a year

Although IBM has not yet developed an exact roadmap, it is likely that the new technology will be ready for production next spring, but in the worst case scenario, we will already be able to see 2010nm products in the second half of 28.
