The promotion has already started, although we will not see a finished product from it next year.

In 2020, Intel graphics cards could come

Intel’s efforts to enter the market did not come as a surprise to the press, as it was quite clear that Raja Koduri and Chris Hook did not leave AMD there, especially Radeon Technology Group, for the cleaning job. SIGGRAPH 2018 provided a great opportunity for engineers to give a little insight into the future, so we learned, for example, that the Intel dGPU, which is still under development, runs under the codename Arctic Sound. Based on the current schedule, we think the chip could be made with a bandwidth of 10 nm - AMD will definitely be at 7 nm by then. By the way, the video below starts with statements that seem very bold at first, such as:

  • "We had the first graphics processor to offer full DirectX 12 compatibility."
  • "We were the first to run Netflix in 4K."
  • "We created laptops as thin as eSport players like a phone."

Of course, these professionals can't do a miracle either, even for a mammoth of this size, a bumpy road leads to the world of discrete graphics cards, but based on the video above, preparations can be made for 2020. Presumably, the main goal could be to conquer the professional realm, where NVIDIA Tesla and AMD Radeon Instinct are now in control. For the time being, there is no minimal information on whether desktop video cards (Radeon and GeForce) manage to catch solid ground, but in any case, there is apparently no shortage of ambition.
