Introductory

I have been preparing for the iScooter iX6 test since they asked me if I would like to try it. The reason for this was that the iScooter iX6 is essentially the same as the machine I have used the most in recent years, the Laotie ES8. I say basically, because I found a lot of differences between them.

The Laotie ES8 was an extremely exciting, agile, sporty 500-watt all-terrain scooter. It wasn't flawless, sometimes the shock absorption was a bit stiff, the screw holding the handlebar came loose, and before I noticed it bent a bit, the range wasn't great either, and things like that. But there was nothing dangerous, a little attention, maintenance, and it did its job for many, many kilometers.

What I really liked about it was that for some reason it seemed much more powerful than 500 watts. Since then, I've had quite a few scooters, several with 1000 watts, but somehow the ES8 was able to compete even with them. I also liked it because it wasn't too heavy, because the frame neck didn't close when it had to be folded, and because it fit quite well in the trunk.

So, given the history, I was excited for the iScooter iX6. I was hoping that because of its 1000 watt motor, I would be able to team with it even more than with the ES8. Well, that didn't work out, but I don't mind that much.

Unpacking and assembly

This is the scooter that does not need to be assembled. Not a little, but not at all. You take it out of the box with everything in place, just fold up the steering horn, fold up the steering rod, remove the foil from the display and the machine is ready to go.

Of course, the important things, such as checking the wheels, brakes, screws, etc., should not be left out here either, without which I would not start with any scooter.

However, if you have completed the necessary checks, you can take the bike, if you have one, summer motorcycle gloves can't hurt either, and you can go racing. Already, as far as the iX6 can race.

The scooter is quite well equipped. Normal fenders in the front and back, normal lights in front, but a little weak in the back. Even with the ES8, the index on the rear fender looked funny, I don't think the dog can see when you index. At the same time, if you plan to use the scooter for several years, the index can be useful in that you can install an index on the handlebar end with an electrician, for example, and it will already have a meaningful role.

In addition to the usual lights, I also have to highlight the blue light strip built into the tread, which I think is a very tasteful and beautiful solution. If something needs to light up on the tread, then such a solution is a thousand times better than some cricket-like RGB LED sign. Of course, we are not the same, my itch to stand out spreads so much, I don't want to stand out from the crowd.

It is also important that the height of the steering wheel can be adjusted in 3 steps. At 184 cm, the top position was comfortable for me, I feel that it would be very low over 190 cm anyway. So, this scooter will not be ideal for people with a basket case.

Okay, let's see what the machine can do in terms of paper!

Specification

The iScooter iX6 is powered by a motor that turns the rear wheel, just like a BMW. 😉 Unlike the ES8, this motor is no longer 500, but 1000 watts. The battery pack is 48 volts and has a capacity of 17,5 Ah (840 Wh). It also improved compared to the ES8, it only had a capacity of 15,6 Ah. According to the factory data, it will take 7-9 hours to charge from zero to one hundred (in reality, 7-8 hours maximum).

The scooter has front and rear shock absorption. The good news is that there are two shock absorbers per wheel, quite large pieces whose tension can be adjusted. There are both electronic and mechanical brakes, so 3 brakes work. There are mechanical disc brakes at the front and at the back, and at the back, the electric brake helps and also acts as an anti-lock brake. I note that this is not a scaled-down version of the anti-locking solution that works in cars, so the wheel can lock with this, but more difficult than if it didn't.

I already wrote about the lighting, but to repeat, a spotlight in the front, a red light in the back, which is also a brake light, red light indices next to the rear light (pure America), a blue light strip running along both sides of the trepnin but above.

A very important difference from the Laotie ES8 is that the wheels are not 10-inch but 11-inch. Again, this adds a lot to safe driving, it is more difficult to get stuck. It is important to note that in this price and size class, an 11-inch wheel is essentially an unknown concept, and one larger than 10 inches can only be found with a magnifying glass. Well, the iX6 is one of the ones you'll find, so kudos to the manufacturer!

The weight of the scooter is relatively low. Not so much that you want to get on the tram, bus, or subway with it, but among machines with similar capabilities, and especially among those with 11-inch wheels, it is a featherweight. Even the gross weight remains below 30 kilos, so taking it in and out of the trunk by holding the folded handlebar is not a dangerous operation at all.

The manufacturer says that the top speed of the iX6 is 45 kilometers per hour, the maximum distance it can cover is 40-45 kilometers, the maximum incline it can climb is 35 degrees, and the maximum load capacity is 150 kilograms. It's full of funny data, at which experts can already start laughing.

Two things are left out, one is that we received IPX4 water protection, the other is that the opened size of the scooter is 122 * 63 * 125 centimeters, and when folded it is 122 * 22 * 57 centimeters.

May the experiences come quickly!

Experiences

As I wrote in the introduction, I was really looking forward to this scooter. The ES8 left me with such pleasant memories that I was sure it would not disappoint. Using the ES8, I would have had the opportunity to replace it several times with a bigger, more powerful one, but I stayed with the Laotie for a long time. The still manageable size and weight, the powerful engine, and the (in my opinion) well-built frame made a lot of sense.

I'm not saying it was perfect. For example, the fixing screws of the folding steering horns had to be torn so that they wouldn't come loose, it was quite lame for the top of the steering rod, the light integrated with the instrument, but overall it was a very good little machine.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 10

I looked at the iScooter iX6 as an improved version of the ES8. The wheels increased from 10 to 11 inches, the normal instrument unit, and the light placed in the normal place (at the bottom of the steering rod), the steering horn fixing screws replaced with much stronger ones, the 500 watt motor instead of the 1000.

All these differences showed that I was getting an even better version of my beloved ES8 here, and it almost turned out that way.

Before I forget, there is one thing I really like about this iScooter iX6, and that is the NFC card start and stop. There is also an option to set a 3-digit PIN code, but I think this is fiddly.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 11

So the thing works with NFC is that you get two cards next to the scooter. These cards (one of the two) must be held under the upper right side of the dashboard and this will turn the scooter on. In other words, you don't even have to touch the power button, just use the card. Stopping is also done in the same way, to turn it off it is enough to hold the card in the right place and the scooter turns off.

The thing is ingenious, I really like it, but don't forget that it's just a scooter that you can ride without turning it on. So this NFC card solution is great, but physical protection will still be needed!

It is worth going back a bit to the factory data, because they have become really funny. You don't have to go far for everyone to realize this, just think about my scooter test a week ago. The scooter in it was 2000 watts, the battery was 52 volts and had a capacity of 20 Ah (1040 Wh).

For that scooter, the manufacturer gave the maximum rise of 20 degrees, in the case of the iScooter iX6 we got 35 degrees. For that scooter, according to my own measurements, the range with my weight was 35 to a maximum of 40 kilometers, the manufacturer specified 6 kilometers for the iX45. I think you can feel that something is not round here, and if you feel the same way, you feel it well.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 13

Well, in the case of the iScooter iX6, the biggest disappointment for me was not the climbing angle, nor the range, but rather the power of the engine. I'll say it right now, if you're running ES8 and you expected it to be worth replacing, then accept it, it won't be worth it.

The engine of the iScooter iX6 is anything but sporty. Rather, it is a piece designed for pleasant urban driving, but not for racing. With the three selectable gears, even sports won't kill you, you won't fall off the scooter when starting. The smallest ECO, with its maximum speed of 6 kilometers per hour and minimal acceleration, is such that I am afraid to fall asleep on it.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 14

Of course, we are not all the same. Those who want to replace their Ropi scooter with a more serious one, or, God forbid, have not yet owned a scooter, will not mind that there is such an ECO level.

It is important that the factory top speed is limited to 25 km/h. I think that's good. A pleasant, even safe speed, where the consumption will not be too high either. And this is important, because in addition to the 1000 watt motor, the battery has been larger compared to the ES8, but the range has not changed. It wasn't steely on that one, and it wasn't.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 15

I always write (not because I'm proud of it) that I weigh 100 kilos from below, so maybe you're lighter than me. It is also important that during the test there was quite a mix of use, but wherever possible I used maximum gas. There was a little bumping, lots of starting and stopping, there were steeper climbs, and the light worked all the way, so I don't claim that the test reflects average use.

On the other hand, I claim that I was able to cover 17,5 kilometers with the scooter when it was fully charged. Not 40-45, not even half, 17 kilometers.

In practice, this means that if you weigh, say, 80 or a maximum of 85-90 kilos, there are no big hills, you are satisfied with a top speed of 25 kilometers, then you can reach a range of 20 kilometers. Not even 40-45, twenty. I note that (unfortunately) this is normal. I experience this with all scooters and bicycles. It is realistic if you halve the range given by the factory. Of course there are exceptions, but they are few and far between.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 16

The 35 degree climbable incline is a joke. It's not just when the battery is running out of charge, it's a joke even when it's fully charged. Let's just say it's 15 degrees. If the ascent is short, you might even get to the top of 20 degrees, but if you use it normally, it's only 15 degrees when you slow down normally.

Now you can say that the iX6 is a piece of shit according to them, but the fact is that it is not, the target audience will simply be different, not the one you first think of. The iX6 is sold as an all-terrain scooter, and in some respects (tires, shock absorption) it is also suitable for lighter terrain. But it won't be good for a regular off-road scooter. Not so much that it was much more pleasant with it on asphalt, but there was no problem even if you had to jump off a higher curb.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 17

The shock absorption works as an example, I would venture that it is better than it was on the ES8. No, that's not true, I don't have to risk it, it's BETTER than it was on ES8. With more extreme road faults, when jumping off the pavement, a small sound comes from the rear, but it is not the sound of the shock absorber, but rather the sound of the suspension. For example, the front shock absorber never bounced, while this was not uncommon in the case of the ES8.

Top speed. Well, if you release the restriction (pressing the M key five times), the wheel spins up to 45 kilometers per hour without load. The ES8 went that much with a load (with me), so even before starting I was sure that a 1000 watt motor here, a 1000 watt motor there, the top speed would be lower than with the 500 watt ES8. It was so. When the battery was close to its maximum charge, the iX6 was capable of 38-40 kilometers per hour with me.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 18

I don't want to decide whether this is a lot or a little, there will be many people who will say that it is nothing, and others will have peas running down their backs and grip the arm of their chair while reading the article. We're not the same.

Having tried many scooters, I say that 40 is realistic. Not a lot, not a little, this is what we can realistically expect from a 1000 watt scooter today. From the ES8's 500 watts, 45 was not realistic, it was well above the average.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 19

In my opinion (and if I'm not testing a scooter, I also use it this way) a scooter can be used comfortably at 25-30 kilometers per hour. At this speed, you won't fall through my steering wheel, the braking distance will be relatively short. At this speed, you won't fall backwards when accelerating, rollerblading is not about constantly shifting your body weight from front to back or vice versa. You stand comfortably, you don't get tired, but you make progress. You cover 25-30 kilometers in an hour. That's not bad.

How do I think the iX6 turned out, and who do I recommend it to?

Summary

As it turned out at the beginning of the article, on the one hand, the iScooter iX6 was a disappointment, the reason for which was that the same frame as the ES8, the more powerful engine, and the bigger wheels did not mean that I would get a scooter with the same agility as the ES8. So, if you're looking for adrenaline, thrills, and zigzagging between cars, then forget the iX6, move on!

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 20

However, if you are looking for a scooter that is reliable, very well put together, and will serve you for years, then the iX6 will be your scooter. If, in addition, your main goal is to get from A to B in a pleasant, but not too boring and uneventful way, then the iX6 will be your scooter.

I don't think there is a problem with the quality. Even in the case of the ES8, I got the idea of how bad it is that the brakes are under the brake disc, not above it, and it will hit everywhere. Well, it never crashed, not even once, even though I drove the ES8 through the woods and fields. Based on this, the brake will not reach anywhere on the iX6 either, especially since the wheel around the brake is even bigger. The quality of the shock absorber is second to none in this category, but really. It works great, the factory hardness was good for me, but if you want, you can harden or soften the suspension to your liking.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 21

Many people say that the folding steering horn should be forgotten, and they might be right in case of a more forceful use. But, as I always write, the steering wheel on the scooter is not for you to hold on to, but to steer with it. Lean back when slowing down, lean forward when accelerating, don't let the steering wheel hold you back!

Due to the screws of the reinforced steering horn of the iScooter iX6, I would not replace the folding steering horn, because I know how much easier it is to transport the scooter in the trunk. Of course, if you don't trust the opportunity to buy a fixed horn, I wouldn't do it.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 22

So the point is briefly as follows. Compared to its category, the iScooter iX6 turned out to be a particularly good scooter, with good features and good equipment. The power of the motor will not pose a danger to anyone, I dare to recommend the machine even to complete beginners. Experienced people won't get bored on it either, once in a while you can push it at XNUMX on the forest road, there will be plenty of adrenaline.

It turns very well, even in a very small curve, if you are not going very fast. The steering wheel tends to shake when held with one hand, so hold it with both hands, especially above 10 km/h. The relative narrowness of the tread (you can only comfortably place your legs behind each other), the width and size of the tires somehow shape things in such a way that it is a real experience to turn around with the machine, to avoid obstacles and possibly roots in the forest (I am not referring to hikers). On asphalt, you can make big decisions at higher speeds, if it were a little stronger and faster, I would say that it is very exciting, but with the described ability, I would rather say that it is very enjoyable.

1000 watt all-terrain scooter, even for beginners - iScooter iX6 test 23

All in all, I'd say that the iScooter iX6 is not a strong off-road scooter, but a strong city scooter with off-road capability. If you buy it for that, if you want to go to work with it comfortably (but I emphasize, not with the tedium of a rickety scooter) and ride around the city, then this will be your scooter. The only question is whether the range will be enough for you, because if it is, and the price is right, then I wholeheartedly recommend it!

The price and coupon code remained at the end. The scooter is of course delivered from an EU warehouse, so you will receive it quickly, there will be no customs duties or additional VAT. The price of a BGISSAM0142 with a coupon code it will be HUF 233 instead of HUF 000. You can buy it by clicking on the link below:
