Xbox 360: The HD DVD player has arrived
The first information was leaked back in August from an external HD DVD player that could be connected to the Xbox 360.

The optical unit, which plugs into the console's USB 2.0 port, uses the game's three-core processor, the 3,2 GHz IBM processor, to perform computational tasks when playing HD content, that is, to decode high-definition video.
DailyTech also wondered if the gaming machine accessory could work on a personal computer. The test ended with mixed emotions, as the release of Windows XP Professional alone was unable to cope with the task, but after installing the UDF 2.5 file system driver, the HD DVD player became operational. In contrast, Windows Vista immediately recognized the disks in the drive, whether it's a 32-bit or 64-bit edition. It is important to note that most current player programs are not yet ready to play high-definition material on next-generation discs.
