WD My Passport exterior, Apple friendly winchesters
Yesterday, Western Digital unveiled the next-generation My Passport Studio and My Passport for Mac portable HDDs, designed specifically for Mac computing and working with the Apple Time Machine backup device.
The new My Passport Studio measures 22 × 126 × 84 millimeters, weighs 310 grams and has a rugged aluminum finish for adequate resistance. Connectors include USB 2.0 and two FireWire 800s on the accessory. Truth be told, there is not much more to be said about it except capacity and prices. Three models arrive, the 500GB costs $ 130, the 750 gigabits ask for $ 160 in the sticks, while the 1 TB costs $ 180.
My Passport for Mac measures 21 × 82,3 × 110,8 millimeters and weighs 234 grams. You can't complain about the strength of the case this time either, but it only had one USB 2.0 port on the much smaller drive. Regardless, it’s still cheaper, as the 500-gig version can now be taken home for $ 100, the 750GB model is still cheaper than the brother’s one-size-fits-all model, but even the 1-terrain version only costs $ 130.
