I bought an X-Wing and assembled it

I went for it one afternoon, but I have been feeling so well for a long time.

I’m no longer a piece today, I work a lot, and modeling has never really attracted me either. Still, when I saw this metal-built spaceship, I couldn’t stand it and ordered one. What can I say, he understood! There wasn’t a dollar and a half in action along with shipping, so I didn’t take a big risk with it. Let’s not say that the moment I finished it I ordered a TIE hunter for $ 4 (no longer in action) so I wouldn’t be saddened on the shelf alone.

The thing is, this model, as I guessed anyway, is not in the hands of a child. At least not in the hands of a small child. The metal plate is not sharp, but because it is thin, it can cut. I also need tools, at least a tapered pliers, but I also got a very good set of screwdrivers, you know, those little screwdrivers with different thicknesses, because when you had to turn the plates of the gears or wingtips into a given arc, they came in very handy.

The assembly took quite a few hours. Since then, I’ve been looking after it and it turned out it wasn’t the simplest model, but it couldn’t be the most complicated, it could be some advanced level. Luckily I stepped on this, no problem. The cutting and fitting of the metal plates is quite dazzling, the folds are sharp and with the help of a pliers, but often without it, it is possible to fold the edges of the plates nicely without the weakened fold line.

And the end result is quite beautiful! I tried to take photos with a macro, but it didn't get nice. After all, it’s just something hand-folded, fastened together with small metal tabs, whose flaws come out too much on the macro. But holding it in hand is quite sensational. The plates are lacquered, so they stay as glossy for a long time as you took them out of the package. The patterns printed on the plate, the small, of course hand-folded accessories on the wing or R2D2 behind the cockpit are created with precision that I didn’t expect from this little model, even at its longest point, barely 10 centimeters.

You can also find some pictures of the completion process in the gallery below.

You can find a lot of videos about these little models on the net, so I won’t go into the details of the assembly right now. With a little dexterity, everyone will thrive and have a similarly carefree, relaxing afternoon like I did. Take a look at the pictures and surprise yourself too, because sometimes it’s worth putting down the lute and being a kid again, even if it’s only for a few hours!
