The Clean Software program is over

With a view to competition neutrality, the Ministry intends to end support for the rental of software developed by a market company in order to promote market competition. According to the professional opinion of the NFM, the needs of public and higher education institutions can be met by free open source software, except in some special cases.

The Clean Software program is over

During the cost-based planning of this year's budget, the costs of the Clean Software program have not been planned, but until March 2012, 1, the educational institutions concerned will be able to legally use software rented from Microsoft under the program.

According to the software giant, maintaining the current national contract is the most cost-effective solution at the overall budget level, so this is primarily recommended to the responsible leaders of the Hungarian government. Negotiations have been initiated with the appropriate actors to continue the construction. You have at least 3 months to do this under this contract. During this time, you may be able to settle the fate of the Clean Software Program in a reassuring way.

The thing is somewhat more complex than we might think at first. The German Foreign Ministry began the transition to Linux and several other free applications (Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird OpenOffice) in 2001. In the long run, the transition came with additional costs, such as writing custom driver software and training employees, which led to a return to Windows in 2010.
